announcing 2018 responsive grant guidelines
December 8, 2017 | ECF Press Release
The Evanston Community Foundation (ECF) released its new 2018 responsive grant guidelines and request for proposals. For 2018, the guidelines emphasize ECF’s strategic goals that focus on working toward a more equitable Evanston as a guide to its responsive grantmaking.
These guidelines build on the Foundation’s long commitment to making the community better for all by building an engaged and collaborative community and supporting a thriving nonprofit sector.
proposals
“Organizations of all sizes from long-standing nonprofits to new community groups have the opportunity to propose their ideas to improve Evanston,” said Marybeth Schroeder, Vice President of Programs at ECF.
Proposals will be accepted for grants between $5,000 and $20,000. Applicants are asked to first submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) by January 16, describing the program or organizational improvement project for which they seek funding. After a review, selected organizations will be invited to submit a full proposal by February 22. Applicants can access the complete guidelines and access to the online application on the ECF website. Those who need access to a computer or assistance submitting online are invited to contact ECF’s office at 847-492-0990.
“Each proposal submitted is carefully reviewed by a committee of community members, using criteria that are published along with the grant guidelines,” said Rebecca Cacayuran, ECF Program Officer. “I encourage applicants to reach out to me if they have questions regarding the process or evaluation criteria.”
information sessions
Information sessions are scheduled to discuss the proposal process with interested nonprofits or citizens. The first session will be held on December 21, at 4 p.m. at One Rotary Center, 1560 Sherman, Room 1A. The second session will be held on December 28, at 5:30 p.m. at Gibbs-Morrison Cultural Center, 1823 Church Street. A third session is scheduled for January 4, at 5:30 p.m. at Fresh Anointing Worship Center, 1000 South Blvd.
Prospective applicants are also invited to schedule a meeting with ECF program staff to discuss their ideas for proposals ahead of submission. This is not required for applicants but offered to help with any specific questions. Dates and times are listed at www.evanstonforever.org, and interested parties can email or call the office to schedule.
Additional questions may be directed to Rebecca Cacayuran, Program Officer.
