November 23, 2020 | ECF Press Release

The Evanston Community Foundation (ECF) announced the appointment of Elspeth Revere as Interim President and CEO, effective December 11, 2020. Revere will take over for departing President and CEO Monique B. Jones, who will be stepping down to assume the leadership of Forefront.

about Elspeth Revere

Elspeth Revere is an accomplished nonprofit executive with significant experience guiding organizations through leadership transitions. Revere brings a background of more than 24 years at the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, serving most recently as Vice President, Media, Culture and Special Initiatives, where she designed and implemented a variety of grantmaking initiatives. As the president of Ravenswood Consulting, Revere has provided interim executive services for four nonprofits organizations within the past two years. Revere’s deep experience will allow ECF’s strategic and grant making work to continue unimpeded, supporting ECF as we continue to meet the challenges raised by the pandemic and working with staff to guide our response through the Evanston Community Rapid Response Fund.

“I am honored to have been chosen to lead Evanston Community Foundation during this transition,” said the incoming interim CEO, Elspeth. “The work of community foundations has never been more important than it is today, and ECF has demonstrated its responsiveness to its community at this critical moment. I am excited to join this excellent team and support ECF’s staff and board through this time of organizational change.”

“We are delighted that Elspeth will step in and lead during this transition. Her organizational acumen and deep nonprofit experience will be of great value to ECF and Evanston,” said Lisa Altenbernd, ECF Board Chair. “The community is relying on ECF, particularly now, and Elspeth’s leadership will allow us to continue the critical work in our community. We are extremely fortunate to have her guidance during this time.”

It is anticipated that Revere will serve as Interim President and CEO for a period of 4 – 6 months, as ECF conducts a search for a permanent leader.
