Formed in 2016, Addie Wyatt Center is an organization focused on assisting communities facing violence. Their underlying philosophy and methodology is founded upon Martin Luther King Jr.'s Nonviolent Conflict Reconciliation, which addresses underlying causes of unjust social conditions through nonviolence. Addie Wyatt is seeking funding to deliver their two-day "Introduction to Kingian Nonviolence" class to 40 students at ETHS, to continue the process of building a culture of peace both within the school and in the broader community. The organization is also seeking funding to work with Evanston's Parks and Rec department to help create curriculum for, and schedule, a 6-week Nonviolence Summer Institute in 2018 to engage both in- and out-of school youth in nonviolence training.
